They’ve asked me for an abstract (what kind of madness is this!? For an un-conference!?), but I’m happy to oblige because the organizers are awesome. The good folks at Accessibility Camp Toronto have asked me to speak this year, which is great.

This is a win-win situation: there are more speaking slots for people smarter than me I don’t have to speak for 45 minutes and anyone not impressed with my demo can’t be too angry because lunch comes with free sandwiches. I always leave Accessibility Camps better than when I rolled in.įor the last few years, I’ve avoided giving presentations at Accessibility Camp DC in favor of giving Dragon NaturallySpeaking demos during lunch. It’s an informal structure that encourages attendees to ask questions, take risks, and put themselves out there. Admission is usually free or minimal cost, with the only requirement for attending being a willingness to share knowledge. The schedule is determined on the spot by the participants, each one of whom tells the room what they’d like to learn about. Accessibility Camps are structured as an “un-conference,” meaning there is no set agenda for the day. It will be the first Accessibility Camp I’ve been a part of other than Accessibility Camp DC in my backyard. I’m excited to be participating in Accessibility Camp Toronto on Saturday, November 16.
